ASTROLOGICAL STUDY
Society Formed In Wellington “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, August 10. There are persons in Wellington who believe in astrology—so much so that they have formed an Astrological Society of Wellington and will start a three-year diploma course in the subject next February. Astrology, according to them, is not the telling of fortunes by the stars. What they do is predict trends based on the angular relationship of the planets, the sun and the moon with the earth and its magnetic field. Astrology is about 4000 years old and still has not been accepted as a science, but students of it say it will be within 10 years, at least in Europe and the United States. The principal tutor of the forthcoming course, Mr G. Carpenter, a young Englishman who took a diploma at the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London, said New Zealand would accept astrology in 30 years. He said considerable research was taking place to substantiate the science of astrology and it was overcoming the ridicule attached to the fortune-telling done under the name of astrology. Mr Carpenter expects at least 40 to take part in the new astrology diploma course, which is to be conducted by correspondence.
