POLIO DOSE
Few Turn Up I The Health Department is concerned at the apparent apathy among Christchurch mothers on the question of polio vaccination of thenchildren. Only 56 per cent of the children who should have received their first dose of vaccine were brought to the Aug ust clinic yesterday. Accord ing to the birth records. 420 children should have arrived for vaccination. Only 236 turned up. Notices are sent out to the mothers of all children when they reach the age of three months, advising them of the time and place for the clinic The first dose is the important one. Yesterday’s figure was a substantial drop on the number of children who attended clinics for their first doses in the last few months. There were 353 in May, 295 in June, and 353 again in July. As well as the 236 who received first doses yesterday. 329 came in for second doses and 34 for third doses. Five adults also attended the clinic.
