Only One Survivor

Only one player among the 14 Christchurch City is taking to Dunedin on Saturday for the South Island Chatham Cup final against St. Kilda appeared in the team that last reached this stage of the competition. He is the reserve goalkeeper, G. Richards, who played in the 1958 game when City overwhelmed Northern (Dunedin), 6-1, at Christchurch. The score was 1-1 at halftime, but City, inspired by one of the club’s current coaches, .D. Worthington, cracked in five goals during the second half. In the final, at Wellington, however, it was Richards’ turn to do all the bending into the back of the net when City was outplayed 7-0 by Seatoun, iof Wellington.
