RUNNER’S PLANS

Davies Adds 3 Miles (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 10. Although the Waikato runner, J. L. Davies, still wishes to remain primarily a miler, he will, because of recent success over longer distances, attempt to try to gain selection in both the mile and three miles for the Empire Games next year. Davies said in Tokoroa today that his world-class time of 7min 51sec over 3000 metres during his tour of Europe had convinced him of his potential over longer distances. He would carry out the same marathon training as before but would only need to alter his speed training to strike a happy medium between railing and three miling. He said that he would run with his harrier club for the rest of the winter
