(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, August 10. British officials said today that Singapore has asked to remain in the Commonwealth as an independent nation. Britain would support this and Commonwealth countries would be consulted, through diplomatic channels, about Singapore’s wish. All Commonwealth nations have to agree before a Commonwealth territory can become an independent member.
