Millbrook Reserve
Sir,—ls the Waimairi County Council aware of the erosion taking place at the rivers edge in Millbrook Reserve? If nothing is done fairly promptly the river will have broken down the banks right up to the azalea beds and the trees in the corner of the reserve near Rossall street. 1 notice that along the river bank in Carlton Mill road there is a stone buttress and that seems to be what is required in the reserve. 1 would like to take this opportunity of saying how much 1 have appreciated the work done recently in the reserve-and the tidy and well cared for appearance of the flower and shrub borders.— Yours, etc., H.B.G. August 5, 1965. [The chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Mr O. C. Mitchell). said: “There is provision in the current year’, estimates for the carrying out of the work referred to in the correspondent’s letter and this will be done in the very near future. Because of other more important work, it has not been found possible to start this work at an earlier date. The’ council, at the same time, appreciates the remarks made by the correspondent with reference to the appearance of the reserve. Council staff take a very keen interest in the public reserves within the county and it will be pleasing to them also to read that their work is appreciated by members of the public”!
