STEVENSON’S DEATH

Reply To N.Z. Message (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) has received a reply from President Johnson to a message sent on the death of Mr Adlai Stevenson. It reads: “I deeply appreciate your message of condolence on the death of Adlai Stevenson. “The American people have a deep sense of loss at the death of a man who was a constant, living example of courage, integrity, and steadfastness of purpose in pursuit of peace and justice in the United States as well as in the world in general. “He will be sorely missed by me and by his colleagues in the Government.”
