READER OR SENIOR LECTURER IN ENGLISH An applicant should have a special teaching and research interest in a particular field of English literature, and. at least tor appointment as a Reader, have substantial published work in this field. (September 24.) SENIOR LECTURER IN ELECTRON MICROSCOPY Applications should have a degree In Science or Engineering, preferably a doctorate. They should have experience tn the maintenance and operation of electron microscopes and a wide knowledge of Electron Microscopy techniques (including application to biological, minerallic and metallurgical materials) Is necessary. Applicants should preferably nave had some administrative experience As it is anticipated that new electron microscopes will be purchased by this University. the appointee will be called upon to act in an advisory capacity in relation to the selection, housing and installation of these instruments. LECTURER IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS (FARM MANAGEMENT) Applicants should hold a degree in agriculture, agricultural economics or economics, with post-graduate qualifications in farm management, preferably including some field experience. (September 10) LECTURER IN INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS. DEPARTMENT OF EXTERNAL STUDIES An applicant should have an Honours Degree in Economics with preferably some research experience in this field The successful applicant will be required to give courses in the field of Economics ! and international Economics for the degree course of the Bachelor of Economics and should have appropriate University qualifications and experience io undertake this work. (September 17.) LECTURER IN INORGANIC CHEMISTRY, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF TOWNSVILLE Applicants should possess an Honours Degree in Chemistry and preferably the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Applicants will be encouraged to carry out independent research in Inorganic Chemistry and overseas experience, though not essential, would be an advantage. The appointee will be expected to carry out research in some branch of inorganic chemistry. Preference may be given to an applicant whose research interests are relevant to Ihe rapidly developing mineral Interests in North Queensland. The applicant should be capable of supervising honours and research students. (September 24.) DEMONSTRATOR/SENIOR DEMONSTRATOR IN CHEMISTRY. UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF TOWNSVILLE Vacancies exist for persons who are interested in combining teaching duties with research leading to a higher degree or primarily interested in leaching and laboratory supervision. Applicants in the former category should possess an honours degree and research experience would be an advantage. There will be opportunities to carry out research for higher degrees. (August 6.) The University provides for permanent staff, superannuation similar to F.S.S.U., housing assistance, study leave and travel grants. DEPARTMENT OF SURVEYING APPLICANTS should have considerable experience in survey draughting and preferably soma experience in teaching this subject. It will be a decided advantage if the person appointed has ability also in any of the following fields, cartography, the law relating to surveying, computations and surveying. Applicants should possess some recognised qualification in draughting. (Membership of the New Zealand Institute of Draughtsmen would be acceptable.) Salary Is within the range £l3OO x £loo—£2soo with a bar at £2OOO, starting point to be determined by experience and ability. The status of Senior Lecturer may be awarded as a mark of personal distinction either on initial appointment or bv subsequent promotion. The salary of a senior lecturer will be not less than £2300 per annum. Government Superannuation scheme is available.
