Cardigan Bay’s Dam
“Tht Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL.
Colwyn Bay, the dam of the champion pacer, Cardigan Bay, will this season be mated with the Nibble Hanover horse, Van Hanover, which stands at Winton.
Colwyn Bay was tested during the week and has proved to be in foal to Thurber Frost with which she was mated last spring.
Van Hanover’s first crop are now yearlings. “We have a Van Hanover colt from Milford Haven and he has shown more ability than any youngster of the same age we have ever had on the farm,” Mr A. Todd said yesterday. Milford Haven is an unraced half-sister by My Chief to Cardigan Bay and a sister to Conway Bay and Swan Bay. Milford Haven is this season being mated with Dick Adios.
Club Ballot The president of the Timaru Trotting Club (Mr W. L. Richards) and the treasurer (Mr T. T. Ritchie) have been nominated for the presidency and the election will be decided by postal ballot prior to the annual meeting. Mr J. R. D. Clay, the only nominee, will be re-elected vice-president.
