SHORTAGE OF STAFF

Universities’ Problem (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 3. Staffing difficulties in New Zealand universities already appearing when he left in 1958, were obviously very serious now, Professor A. N. Pryor said in Auckland today. Professor Pryor is professor of philosophy at Manchester University. Between 1952 and 1958 he was professor of philosophy at Canterbury University. Born In Masterton, Professor Pryor spent his early childhood on the North Shore. He has returned to New Zealand as a British Council visiting lecturer. He said he could not suggest a solution for staffing problems, but some higher salaries, improved amenities and common rooms, the provision of housing and bringing universities into line with the superannuation scheme operating in other Commonwealth countries would all help.
