BIRTH COMMENT DEPRECATED
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, August 1. The excitement of the quintuplet birth in Auckland had. perhaps inevitably, given rise to a great deal of comment—much of it speculative or uninformed. said the Medical Superintendent of the National Women’s Hospital. Dr. R. A. Warren, today.
“In matters of this kind,” Dr. Warren said, “the proper place to discuss clinical details is in the scientific medical journals. This will happen in due course with the quintuplets.
“Until then it will be appreciated that it would be premature and possibly misleading to indulge in comment on the clinical matters.
“The parents, as is their right, have asked that no further information of a clinical nature he revealed at this stage,” said Dr. Warren. “In the glare of all the publicity surrounding the birth of the quintuplets perhaps the most impressive feature has been the restraint good sense and great dignity of the young eoup|e concerned.”
