Three Road Deaths In Hawke’s Bay
(New Zealand Press Association' HASTINGS, July 28. Three more road deaths occurred in Hawke’s Bay in the last 24 hours, two of them elderly women, one a pedestrian who was hit by a car on July 13.
She was: Mrs Mary Anne Smith, aged 80, of Townshend street, Hastings. A girl was fatally injured when her car hit a telegraph pole in thick fog on the Main South road near Hastings this morning. She was Miss Violet Heni Aranui, aged i 19, a nurse at Duart Hos-j pital, Hastings. She wasji
a daughter of Mr and Mrs Lofty Aranui, of Lowe street, Hastings. The driver of one car was killed in a two-car col’ision near Napier on the I Napier-Hastings main highway ■this afternoon. She was Miss Maud Dawson, aged 76, of Hastings. The driver of the other car escaped with minor injuries.
