Greeks To Hold More Rallies

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) ATHENS, July 28.

Opponents and supporters of the new Greek Government planned massive demonstrations for tonight as the Greek political crisis entered its thirteenth day.

Supporters of the ousted Premier, Mt George Papandreou, who yesterday held a 24-hour general strike, have called for a massive antiGovernment rally in Salonika. Pro - Government trade unionists will hold a rally in Athens as a counter-move. Each side claimed success after yesterday’s strike. Labour leaders said it was 90 per cent effective, while the Government labelled it “a total failm-e.” The major test for Mr George Athanassiades-Novas’s new Government will come tomorrow night when it seeks a vote of confidence from Parliament.

Before the vital vote, Mr Papandreou will address a meeting of his union of the Centre Party, which has 170

seats in the 300-seat Parliament, to try to ensure that the party votes against the new Government. The current crisis was touched off when King Constantine forced Mr Papandreou io resign because he opposed the Premier’s plan to purge the army of Rightwing elements. King Constantine himself is confined to his summer retreat on the island of Corfu, where he was taken ill on Monday night suffering from acute gastro-enteritis.
