AUCKLAND, July 27. Quintuplets the first in New Zealand—were born at the National Women's Hospital, Auckland, late last night All five, one boy and four girls, are in good health. The mother, Mrs Shirley Ann Lawson, aged 26, of 11 Seabrook avenue, New Lynn, was resting quietly tonight The Medical Superintendent at the hospital, Dr. R. A. Warren, described the event as a “perfectly straight-for-

ward delivery.” There were no complications. The babies are at present in incubators. The boy was born at 10.25 p.m. He weighed exactly 41b. The girls arrived at 10.34, 10.40, 10.45 and 10.49 pm. They weighed 31b 3oz, 41b 3oz, 41b 2oz, and 31b 7Joz. Mrs Lawson has been at National Women’s for about three months, a precaution taken by doctors when it was realised it would be a multiple birth.
