N.Z. Market Lifts As Trading Closes
The market for New Zealand shares lifted at the close of trading yesterday, while overseas stocks came into balance. Key stocks followed the same trend.
New Zealand Breweries rose Id to 14s, Gear at 15s 9d, Southland Frozen Meat at 23s 6d, Alliance at 12s 9d, Baillie at 12s 6d and Macalpine at 10s 3d each added 3d. New Zealand Newspapers rose a further 3d to 71s 3d, while Tasman at 50s and Unit Sub-divisions at 6s 6d each rose 6d. National Mortgage, Ampol, B.H.P. and Woolworths gained in the overseas list. W. R. Carpenter lost Is 3d to 22s while Mount Isa shed lOd to 32s 7d.
