CLEARING OF WEEDS

Withdrawal Of Summonses Withdrawal of summonses i issued to two person for ali leged failure to comply with , noxious weeds clearance notices was opposed by Cr W. B. Laing at a meeting of the Heathcote County Council last evening. The council's finance committee recommended that the summoneses be withdrawn on condition that costs are paid by July 29. i “They are just taking advantage of the council asking for withdrawal,” said Cr. j Laing. “They have had a final I notice.” “But it’s going to cost them I something,’ said Cr. E. L. Tyndall. I “That’s how it goes on— I they get a summons and then do the work, and ask that the summons be withdrawn,” said Cr. Laing. Should the council prosecute regardless? asked the chairman (Mr C. D. Le Comte). Cr. J. S. Scott said that each case had to be judged on its merits.

The recommendation was adopted.
