Ky Said Hitler Was His Hero
(N.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) THE HAGUE, July 22. Holland has expressed serious concern over a remark by the South Vietnamese Premier, General Nguyen Cao Ky, that Hitler was his one hero.
The Dutch diplomatic representative in Saigon has (been ordered to ask for furjther explanation and to express Holland’s concern, the I Foreign Minister, Dr. Joseph I Luns, told Parliament today
Yesterday, Dr. Luns was criticised in both Houses of Parliament for making light of General Ky’s expressions of admiration for the Nazi dictator. A British Sunday newspaper recently quoted General Ky as making the remarks in an interview. Last Saturday at the Prime Minister’s office a spokesman said the reference to Hitler had actually been made in an interview last October before General Ky became Premier. A qualifying note sent by General Ky to the British Ambassador in Saigon two weeks ago said: “When 1 referred to Hitler incidentally during one of my conversations with the journalists, I had in mind the idea that Vietnam needed above all a sense of discipline in order to face the criminal aggression of the Communists.”
