CAMBRIAN SOCIAL
Mrs W. Wood, in the absence of the president (Mr G. Manning) welcomed members and friends to the Cambrian Society of Canterbury’s monthly social yesterday. Members paid tribute to the memory of the late Miss E. Williams, who was a loyal member of the Society for about 40 years. Professor and Mrs R. F, Trehame of the University of Aberystwyth, who have been in New Zealand for several months, were presented with society’s badges as a farewell gift. Professor Treharne expressed appreciation of the friendship he and his Wife had received from Welsh people in New Zealand, and spoke of their interest in finding a “little bit of Wales” so far from their homeland. Included in the programme were vocal solos and duets by Mrs B. Young and Mr W. Williams, elocution items by Mrs H. C. May, and a reading by Mr R. E. Roberts. Members were reminded of the international evening in August.
