Kasavubu Enlarges Government

(N.Z.P A -Reuter —Copyright) LEOPOLDVILLE, July 19. The Congolese President, Joseph Kasavubu, has named the national security chief, Mr Victor Nendaka, as Interior Minister, it was announced in Leopoldville today. In another surprise move, the President named Mr Emmanuel Sinda as Secretary of State for Information and Tourism. The two Ministers were appointed in a Presidential decree signed on Saturday. Last Thursday, the Congolese Prime Minister, Mr Moise Tshombe, announced that he was taking over on an interim basis the Interior Ministry left vacant since July 6. when Mr Tshombe’s old Katanga colleague. Mr Godefroid Munong was dismissed by the President. Mr Munongo was removed on constitutional grounds after his election to the governorship of East Katanga. The President and Prime Minister were reported unable to agree on a man to fill the post and on the wider issue of modifications to the Cabinet. The President was reportedly anxious to enlarge the Government with the inclusion of political leaders from the years preceding Mr Tshombe’s return to power last summer. Mr Tshombe, who after tak-

ing over the Interior Ministry. held nine of his 10-man Cabinet’s 18 portfolios, was anxious to delay Cabinet changes pending final results of the elections earlier this year and the convening of Parliament.
