Prisoner Injured

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 20. An ambulance took an injured prisoner, Barri Ladette, aged 32 to Auckland Hospital this afternoon. He was admitted with a ruptured spleen and facial abrasions after a fracas in the gaol. Tonight Lis condition was said to be still sick. He was thought to be a victim of prisoners who were beating up others showing willingness to give themselves up.

Fireman Terence Ernest Goodwin, aged 27, of 108 Ranfurly road, Epsom, was stunned when a heavy fire extinguisher was hurled from an upper landing. He suffered concussion and was taken to Auckland Hospital. His condition tonight was satisfactory. Eight prisoners who were due for release from gaol this morning were set free this afternoon after questioning. Police were satisfied they played no part in the riot.
