DC9 PASSENGER JET
New Zealand Visit Cancelled Because of certification problems, a Douglas DC9, newest of the short-range, rear-engined jets, will not now visit New Zealand. This was confirmed by Douglas officials in Auckland yesterday. The DC9 was to have made demonstration flights over Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in September. The DC9 is one of the planes being considered by the National Airways Corporation as a replacement for the Viscount. The corporation's project and development manager (Captain H. C. Walker) visited the Douglas Company’s plant in California last month.
