Yachtsmen To Swim 50yds

As a personal safeguard Io junior yachtsmen, the Canterbury Yachting Association hopes clubs will enforce a recommendation that all juniors should be able to swim at least 50 yards. The association decided this course at last evening’s meeting when it adopted a resolution which recommends to clubs that entries for junior events be accepted only from yachtsmen who can swim that distance and all applications for membership must be accompanied by evidence that the applicant can swim. A similar line Is being taken in Auckland and Mr P. G. Mander, the association's delegate to the national federation, will report on Canterbury's move at the federation meeting on Saturday.
