Many Flee Rivers (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) KANSAS CITY, July 20. Hundreds of, persons were driven from their homes in Clay County, Kansas, last night as the Little Platte and Fishing rivers overflowed their banks. About 300 were evacuated in the town of Smithville where the Little Platte rose above its predicted crest of 19 feet above flood stage and was still rising. Fishing river was flowing waist deep down the main street of Mosby and the community’s 300 residents were being evacuated. One man was reported missing there. Civil defence officials were broadcasting appeals for more boats to help with the rescue work.
