Finished At Trentham
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON.
The trainer and part-owner of Smoke Ring, M. C. Conway, said at Trentham yesterday that Smoke Ring would not race again at the Wellington Winter meeting. Smoke Ring had been entered for the Riddiford Steeplechase on the third day and the Winter Hurdles and a hack middle-distance event on the fourth day. In all probability Smoke Ring will be kent for the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting next Wednesday in which he has been weighted in a hack middle-distance with 10-1. His stablemate. Count Filou. which ran - so gallantly in yesterday’s Parliamentary Handicap. will race next in the Winter Oats Handicap at Trentham next Saturday.
