The Springboks
It is always Truter, or “Trix” —pronounced “Treex”— when speaking of JACOBOUS TREDOUX TRUTER, the Spingbok wing.
Truter will delight New Zealand crowds. Tall and fair-headed, he is fast can swerve and side step and his high knee action means he can also smash his way through tackles.
Be may not play In all the tests as there is, very strong competition in the three-quarter line.
He is quiet and always seems to be in the background.
He is tall for a wing, being 6ft lin and weighing nearly 14 stone—a rather formidable size to have bearing down on you when his knees are up near his chin.
“LOFTY” NEL is so named for the obvious reason that he is tali, but even in a team of tall men he seems to be bigger than most.
Probably it is because he has a rather gangling build, even though he weighs lost 111 b.
He is one of the quieter members of the side but on the field he is a very dangerous flanker.
He can jump well in the lineouts. is fast in the open and runs very determinedly—altogether a very fine forward.
Cycling Tour.—M. Wright (Britain) won the twentieth stage (Lyons to Auxerre) of the Tour de France cycle race on Monday. Glmondi, of Italy, retained the over-all lead.
