Hydrofoil For Lake Wakatipu

(New Zealand Press Association*

INVERCARGILL, July 12. A hydrofoil tourist craft may be in use on Lake Wakatipu before the summer. The fourton craft will seat 16 to 18 passengers in spacious comfort, cruise at 35 miles an hour and be able to reach 40 m.p.h. fully loaded.

A firm order has been placed by Wakatipu Water Taxis, Ltd., and already the hydrofoil is

half built at Port Leven, Cornwall.

It is expected to be ready for trials there in September. Delivery to Queenstown will depend on shipping.

It will be the first hydrofoil in the South Island and the second in New Zealand. To be named Meteor 111, it will replace the tourist launch Meteor 11.
