N.Z.-MADE NYLON
Price ‘Could Come Down’ (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 5. The price of New Zealandmade nylon will not go up unless there is a dramatic change in the industry’s cost structure—"and it could possibly come down,” the general manager of Fibremakers (N.Z.), Ltd. (Mr G. Denis Cordner) said yesterday. Mr Cordner said he could not visualise any circumstances which would force up the price of New Zealandmade nylon yarns and fibres He said prices would be constantly under review and it was possible they would drop as the new industry settled into a full production routine. “Although production costs have increased," said Mr Cordner, “New Zealand-made nylon is still selling at the same price as the country paid for imported yarn and fibres two years ago. “Since that time t orld prices for nylon yarn and fibres have dropped, but it is unlikely that New Zealand prices will fall to any great extent because we do not have the same economies of scale as the major overseas producers.”
