PALMERSTON N„ July 4. The South African No. 8, T P. Bedford, who left the field in Saturday’s Rugby game with Wellington, has a broken bone in his left hand. Bedford was taken to hospital and after an X-ray revealed the bone was broken, the band was set in a plaster east. It is not known how long Bedford will be out of action, but there are no plans to remove Hie cast before three weeks. The Springboks now have both their No. 8 forwards out with injuries. D. J. Hopwood injured his back in training at Gisborne and is still in hospital. Mr Louw said there were no immediate plans to make a request for replacements.
