Lower Fees Suggested
A recommendation that the committee investigate the possibility of reducting nomination and acceptance fees was passed at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Club last evening. Owners’ expenses had risen tremendously in recent years and he could not see how these could be reduced, said Mr C. L. Rhodes, moving the recommendation. Owners paid 1 per cent of stakes individually, but collectively this amounted to 16 oer cent. Last year the club had given £88,050 in stakes, and nomination and acceptance fees had amounted to £14,257, said Mr Rhodes. Any reduction in those fees could only be small, but it would be of some help, he added.
