HICCOUGHS STOPPED

Cure Effected By Operation (N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright). ATLANTA (Georgia), July 4. Doctors have successfully operated to cure the hiccoughs that have plagued Mrs Lucy McDonald, aged 40, for the last two years. Mrs McDonald, who failed to cure her hiccoughs with more than 2000 home remedies, underwent surgery in Atlanta on Friday. Doctors severed a nerve in her throat and are hoping for a permanent cure. Asked how it felt to stop hiccoughing after two years. Mrs McDonald said: “I’m lost without them, but it’s good without them, too. I feel wonderful." Mrs McDonald, a divorcee and mother of three children, started hiccoughing on July 8. 1963. Her ailment has cost her two jobs.
