Avonside Teams Lead Winter Tennis

Avonside n, with four points, leads section I and Avonside I and Fendalton, with three points each, lead section II in the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's winter inter-club competition. The fourth round, postponed from last Sunday, was played at Wilding Park yesterday. The pointe are:—Section 1: Avonside II 4, North Linwood 2, Opawa 2, Shirley 2, Riccarton Domain 1, Avonside 111 1, Sumner 0. Section II: Avonside I 3, Fendalton 3. Edgeware 2, Avonside IV 2, St. Mary's 1, Elmwood 1, RedcliSs 0. SUCTION I Avenside II v. Avenside 111 Men's Doubles.—A. D. Atkinson and D. McNeil beat A. Black and R. McKenzie, #-3, 6-2. Women's Doubles.—Mesdames D. McNicol and A. D. Atkinson beat Mesdames D. Macdonald and D. Laycock, 6-1, 6-4. Mixed Doubles.—Atkinson and Mrs Atkinson beat McKenzie and Mrs Macdonald, 9-2, beat Black and Mrs Laycock, 9-4: McNicol and Mrs McNicol beat Black and Mrs Laycock, 9-3, beat McKenzie and Mrs Macdonald. 9-2. Avonside II won by 6 matches to 0. Sumner v. North Linwood Men's Doubles.—Watson and McDougall lost to R. R. Innes and R. Murphy, 1-6, 4-6. Women’s Doubles.—Mesdames Wood and Quilter lost to Misses I. Beil and S. Bruce, 1-6, 4-6. Mixed Doubles.—Watson and Mrs Quilter lost to Innes and Miss Bell, 2-9, lost to Murphy and Miss Bruce, 2-9; McDougall and Mrs Wood beat Innes and Miss Bell, 9-8, beat Murphy and Miss Bruce, 9-7.

North Linwood won by 4 matches to 2.
