Good Response To Appeal

A generous response to the house-to-house appeal held by the Horrelville-West Eyreton sub-centre of the Red Cross, was reported by the president (Mrs R. Aschen) at a meeting of the centre. This was most encouraging as more than £4O had been received, she said. A variety of goods had been donated for the Red Cross market in Christchurch, including produce and garments for overseas relief.

Mrs Aschen expressed gratitude to the collectors and those who had contributed. The sub-centre had donated £5 for the nursing scholarship, £5 for the Inchon Hospital project, and £26 was voted from the meeting towards buying a page-turning machine for use in hospitals.

Assistance will also be given to the Junior Red Cross when it has its stall at the West Eyreton School to raise funds for the society.
