Obituary Mr D. A. Hunn, Health Dept. Administrator

WELLINGTON, July 4. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr D. A. Hunn, who retired recently for health reasons from the position of deputy-Director-General (administrative) of the Health Department He was 55. Mr Hunn joined the Public Trust Office in Masterton in 1926 as a cadet and was senior estates clerk when the Second World War broke out He served with the 3rd Division in the Pacific and returned to New Zealand in 1944 to join the newly-created Rehabilitation Department in Wellington as chief clerk. In 1955. be succeeded Mr J. E. Engel as deputy-Director-
General erf the Health Department. In 1958, Mr Hunn was awarded a fellowship by the World Health Organisation to study health administration in) the United States, Britain, Europe and Israel. He is survived by his wife and daughter. The chairman of the State Services Commission (Mr L. A. Atkinson) today paid tribute to Mr Hunn.
“Mr Hunn’s capacity for work, his judgment and his ability to get on with people, has assured him of a place among New Zealand’s most able public servants,” said Mr Atkinson.
Mr B. W. Collin*, of the D.5.1.1L, has been elected chairman of the New Zealand Society of Scientific and Technical Publishing which has been formed in Wellington after a U.N.E.S.C.O. recommendation that science editors should organise to help international affiliation and communication.—(PA.)
