COUNTIES TO MERGE
Malvern And Tawera Malvern Tawera counties have reached agreement in DfiDciplt to amalwHnate according to a report presented to a meeting of the Malvern County* Council yesterday: The report, from a joint meeting of the two councils held at Darfifld bn June 24, said that a Subcommittee of three members of each council and executive officers had been set up to discuss details. The report said that Tawera’s chairman (Mr W. H. Faulkner) had asked for the discussions, not because of financial problems, but for the benefit generally of the district. Mr Faulkner said that settlements at Arthur’s Pass and the Bealey spur were saturated, and there was every prospect of extensive development on various skifields.
