Duties: Maintenance and operation of automatic multi-frequency recorder and associated electronic equipment. Qualifications: First Class P.M.G. or equivalent: practical experience in servicing radio and/or electronic equipment; experience in wiring and constructing such equipment; aerial connexion and installation: academic training in radio physics desirable but not essential; ability to operate Morse key desirable. Up to three months’ training will be given at the Geophysical Observatory, Christchurch, before departure. General conditions of service at Campbell Island: Campbell Island is maintained by the Department of Civil Aviation as a Government Scientific Station and is inhabited only by station staff organised as an expedition. Appointment is for about 12 months. The appointee will leave New Zealand late October. 1965. Allowances and furlough: Single men £344 a year, married men £404 a year. Furlough three days for each complete month on the island (for broken periods), or 42 days for a year's sojourn.
