A well-known Lyttelton building offered at auction on behalf of J. T. Norton, Ltd., was passed in at £8250, but sold privately soon after. The buyer’s name and the price were undisclosed. The auctioneer was Mr F. I. Sutton. Bidding opened at £7OOO for the two-storeyed brick and concrete building of approximately 10,000 s<i- ft. It includes a dance floor of 2000 sq. ft., cloak rooms, kitchen, vacant cake shop, store rooms with bakehouse.

A pharmacy and bookshop leased on the ground floor, will continue and. according to Mr R. T. H. Norton, the manufacture of egg preservative begun by his father, Mr J. T. Norton, will continue as before. Progress is born of experience.—Mary Baker Eddv.
