HOTEL CLERKS’ AWARD

Retrospective Pay Rises Pay increases retrospective to March 29 are provided in a New Zealand Licensed Hotel Clerical Workers’ award issued by the Court of Arbitration. Minimum weekly wages for females are increased by amounts ranging from 8s 6d to 9s, and the minimum weekly wage for men is increased by 12s 6d. A new allowance is included, giving all workers starting a shift after 12 noon an extra 3s for each such shift worked. Another new clause provides that when a clerk starts or finishes work when there is no public transport running, he must be conveyed home at his employers’ expense, or paid for the time occupied in travelling. Apart from wages, other provisions of the award take effect from June 18.
