Market Declines In Cautious Trading
Prices for New Zealand issues again drifted in a cautious start to trading yesterday. Turn-overs were light on a narrower front. Overseas stocks were firm in light business.
Breweries were again a highlight of trading. New Zealand Breweries closed 4d up at 14s 4d on the home market, while last Christchurch sales were at 14s 6d. In Auckland Dominion sold Id down at 18s 3d at the close, but the closing price in Wellington was 18s 6d..
Allen Industries rose 3d to 15s 6d and Press a further 3d to 35s 3d. Mount Isa advanced Is 2d to 34s 6d; L. J. Hooker and Woolworths also gained. Key New Zealand stocks lost ground.
