Putting Off Holiday

Michel Jazy, the French re-cord-breaking middle-distance runner, said in Paris yesterday he was postponing his holidays to get a chance of meeting Australia’s Ron Clarke, holder of the 5000 metre world record.

Jazy, who had earlier announced he would be going on holidays in July and would not .in any case, be fit to meet Clarke, told reporters he had changed his mind. Clarke would have a chance to meet him at Berne on July 3 and at Cologne on July 7.

Pole Beats Davies

John Davies, of New Zealand, a Tokyo bronze medallist, was beaten into second place by Poland's Witold Baran in the 3000 metres race at the two-day field and track international meeting in Warsaw yesterday. Baran’s time was 7min 58.4 sec, Davies’ 7min 59.25ec. Third was Allonsius. of Belgium, in 7min 59.8 sec. John Herring, of Britain, was sixth in Bmin 2.2 sec, and W. D. Baillie, of New Zealand, was tenth in Smin 9.2 sec.
