BANKRUPT OWES £879
Offer To Pay £2 Weekly An offer to pay £2 a week was made by William John Stickings, a driver and private investigator, of Freyberg avenue, Christchurch, to a meeting of his creditors before the Official Assignee (Mr P. D. Clancy) yesterday. Stickings disclosed debts of £1039 4s 6d. assets of £159 10s and a deficiency of £879 14s 6d.
Stickings said he was heavily in debt when he separated from his wife five years ago. At that time he was paying £lO a week into pool for his creditors. However, he had gone further into debt and had been forced to discontinue the pool.
For this reason he had taken on the additional job of private investigating two years ago. He had no capital but. he said, he had been confident of being able to pay off his debts. However, he had been off work for 10 weeks last year. “I did not realise my financial affairs were so- bad. I had concentrated mainly on the practical side of the business and did not give enough time to the clerical side.” he said. Stickings said he had 12 investigating assignments to complete which should realise £5OO. Of this, he thought he could pay £4OO to his creditors in addition to the £2 a week.
The meeting passed a resolution allowing Stickings to retain his car for the next six months to allow him to complete his assignments. It will then revert to the Official Assignee for sale. Stickings said he wanted to pay everything he owed.
