The Rangiora Trotting Club’s decision to use its new permit on Saturday proved a wise one and the date Is certain te be retained in future. The meeting was held In pleasantly fine weather, with the track in splendid order for winter. A large crowd was attracted, but supporters of favourites had a poor day as Powerful Light was the only first fancy to win.

On - course turnover amounted to £45,114, including £7626 10s on the two doubles, while off-course betting amounted to £48,224 ss. Last December the club ran a nine-race programme, with one event In divisions. On Saturday there were only eight races. Turnover on-course In December was only £41,753, while off-course the total was £42,843.
