LOUIS, June 20 Either Gary Player (South Africa) or Kel Nagle (Australia* may tomorrow become the first overseas player to win U>e United States Open golf title for 45 years. The Soqth African goes tntn the final round two strokes ahead of his Australian rival, who shares second place with an American. Frank Beard. Player scored a steady one over-par 71 in the third round yesterday for a 54-hole total of 211. Nagle had a 72 and Beard a par 70. for 213.
If Player wins he will become the third man In history to win all four major American golf championships. Others who have won the big four are Gene Sarazen and Ben Hogan. Among those who failed to qualify after two rounds was one of the pre-tournament fav ourltes, Arnold Palmer, and R J. Charles, of New Zealand. Palmer had two rounds of 76 and Charles 79 and 75.
