Cage Birds And Poultry Show Held In Ashburton

Entries of a high standard were exhibited in the Ashburton Fanciers’ Society's seven-ty-fourth annual show. The leading birds were outstanding, and a poultry judge rated the best birds in this section as “well up to New Zealand standard.” The only departure from the standard, he said was in the case of a few poultry entries which could have gained higher placings with better preparation before the show. With 1246 entries —about 200 more than in the Christchurch show—the Ashburton show ranks as one of the best in the South Island. There was a big variety of exhibits ranging from poultry, the largest sectin. to canaries and foreign birds.
