OCEANS APART

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 17.

The Union Steam Ship Company freighter Karetu searched about 100 square miles of sea on Wednesday night, but failed to rendezvous with the yacht She—because the freighter was looking in the wrong ocean. The 28-foot Auckland yacht, which left Auckland for Noumea two weeks ago, turned back when one of the crew suffered persistent dizzy spells after being thrown against a bulkhead on Saturday. The skipper. Mr G. Duckett, radioed that he was about 50 miles northeast of Bream Head, off

the east coast of New Zealand.

At 3 p.m. today he radioed that his position was 100 miles south of Cape Reinga—off the west coast

The injured youth, Michael Allan Jeffrey Robinson, aged 19, of Austin road. Greenhithe, was reported to have recovered.

The Karetu reached Auckland just before noon today, about eight hours late. Mr Duckett said the yacht was sailing north again. It is not known whether the She will resume the voyage to Noumea or return to Auckland.
