Wool Prices Rise At Auckland Sale

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 16. Wool prices again took an upward turn on the first day of the final Auckland wool sale for the season today and regained most of the ground lost last month.

At the end of the day the, prices for coarser wools were! on a par with the April sale? when there had been a definite s ; ng in growers’ favour. The day was characterised I by steady and often widespread bidding, which re-1 sealed keen competition and a firming tendency. The demand came from Con i ttnental countries, particularly Italy and Belgium, and there was active support front; America, but few of the < offerings appealed to thei Bradford market.

The 20,391 bales offered were mostly second-shear or early shear and it was in better condition than for some time. There were some very bright and well-picked lines, al

though part of 'he offering v.-as on the short side. Good average early shorn i was about 2d per lb up on' the last sale and some secondshear was about 3d up. The average over-all price was about 39d per lb, or £55 per 3401 b bale. The top price for the day was 53 Jd per lb. Passings comprised about 10 per cent of the offering.
