YACHTSMAN INJURED
To Go Aboard Freighter (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 16. The Union Steam Ship Company freighter, Karatu, bound from Melbourne to Auckland, is expected to rendezvous early tomorrow morning with the yacht She. about 50 miles north-west of Bream head, and take on board a member of the yacht’s crew who was injured when he was thrown against a bulkhead on Saturday. The 28-foot yacht, which left Auckland for Noumea two weeks ago, turned back when the man suffered persistent dizzy spells after his accident. Police said tonight his injuries were not serious but the owner of the yacht, Mr G. Duckett, decided to take no chances and make for land. A lighthouse keeper at Cape Brett. Mr R. Sears, who is an amateur radio operator, picked up a message from the yacht this afternoon. He relayed the message to Auckland Radio. He said the yacht had been trying to raise Auckland since Saturday. Mr Sears relayed messages between the yacht and Musick Point until 9.35 p.m. until the Karatu was able to make contact.
