Crew Leaves Yacht

(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI. June 16. Another yacht has berthed in the Whangarei town basin to recruit a crew. This time it is the 48ft Australian racer, Larntarni, skippered by Mr W. Wakefield, aged 71, of Melbourne, who wants three “decent, experienced” men to sail away with him next week on a three months’ Pacific cruise. Mr Wakefield needs a crew because his last recruits, all Australians, whom he described today as being “all green, with only 16ft dinghy experience.” flew back to Australia at the week-end. Their reasons, he said, were that a storm which pounded the sleek yacht on the trip over from Sydney was too tough for them.
