Proposals For Peace

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, June 13.

The New Zealand Government should send proposals for peace in Vietnam to the warring parties there and to the United Nations, the Auckland branch of the United Nations Association decided on Saturday.

At a seminar on world disarmament the association decided to press for a confinement of United States activities in Vietnam to garrisoned positions in the south.

The secretary of the association (Mr F. C. Jordan) said elections should be held under United Nations supervision in Vietnam to ascertain whether the people there wanted a united government. Mr Jordan said the United Nations should be asked for its advice on the Vietnam situation as soon as possible.
