Murray, said Mr Williams, was a golfer of world class, and had been the mainstay of the provincial team.
“He is a very fine amateur player and a gentleman,’’ he said. “We will remember him. as a lot of his opponents will remember him. with his pugnacious jaw jutting out. Whether it was calculated to strike terror into his opponents or nc* 1 don't know, but it certainly gave them misgivings."
Mr Williams said he knew of no more colourful golfer than Foxton. But he was also a grand club man and was noted for his willingness to play anywhere and anybody. “And,’’ he added, ‘ if any man bad to pull a game out of the fire. Keith Foxton was the man to do it.”
