Sheffield Leading

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 6

In a hard fought game, watched by a crowd of about 9000, Sheffield United beat Blackpool. 3-0, in Dunedin, on Saturday, in the eighth match of their New Zealand tour.

Both sides played hard, direct football, but Sheffield, with a stronger defence, made sure of the game in the, second half when it was leading 2-0. Goals from B. Wagstaff, after eight minutes, and II minutes, took a little of the spirit out of Blackpool but it fought back hard, and much of the play was concentrated midfield. However, late in the second half, the Sheffield outside-left, G. Reece, added a third goal to clinch the game. Sheffield now leads the series. 4-3. with one drawn. The ninth match will be played in Wellington tomorrow.
